Protecting the rear LCD

I'm still using the supplied BM-12 monitor cover. Assuming that I still wish to protect the rear monitor, but with something less bulky, what do others use?

I have a Vello optical glass protector on my D800, and my D610, and my D7100, and my D7000...

Amazon.com : Vello 3" Glass LCD Screen Protector : Digital Camera Screen Protector Foils : Camera & Photo

Are they removable? Yes, but not in a remove-and-reapply manner. They have a mild adhesive that sticks only to the edge of the screen, outside the area that illuminates. It stays on great, but can be removed at some point should you want to replace it or return the camera to original condition. I've not done mine, but I would assume the careful insertion of a blade on the corner to start the separation would allow it to be removed rather easily.

I ordered an Expert Shield protector kit for the top & rear LCD screens.

It arrived very quickly, but on the initial trial-run line-up, I noticed that both the protectors were too small by several millimetres. This would have left a groove around the protector where dirt could build-up & be difficult to clean in the future. The curved corner radius was also incorrect on both pieces. I decided not to attempt installation as a near perfect fit was impossible. I have contacted Expert Shield & asked for the returns procedure.

The shield was a specific model claimed to fit the D800/D800e/D810. I can confirm that it is too small for the D810. :(
