Hi, I am a long time Nikon user and have had a range of cameras/lenses. I recently acquired a D7100 to accompany me on shoots alongside my D800, this way I could still make use of the decent DX lenses I had accumulated. One of the first lenses I tried on the D7100 was my trusty 50mm 1.4D, and the pairing was superb. However, two months on, the combination has stopped working. As soon as I snap on the lens I get an fEE error on my camera display. I am fully aware of the aperture ring issue i.e ring on smallest aperture and lock switch on. I also tried formatting the SD card in case it had anything to do, but no success. Here's the interesting part: If I snap on the 50 1.4 on my older D2X or even on the D800, it works fine. The other test involved using different lenses on the D7100 (17-55 2.8; 70-200 2.8) and both worked perfectly. Therefore I have narrowed it down to just being this specific combination (50 1.4D on D7100) - even then, this combination was working fine at the start. I cannot think of anything I might recently have done to cause this, the last use of the camera involved some video shooting with a wide lens but this is a normal camera function that shouldn't affect lens systems in any way. Slightly baffled by this one. Any help/advice from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
