problem with self timer

I am not able to get the self timer function to work and I'm hoping it's operator error. I set the timer for a 10 second delay, and I set it to take 5 pictures. Then I hit the menu button twice to get back to the screen to take the picture. When I press the shutter button, I'm supposed to hear beeps and then the camera is supposed to start taking pictures after 10 seconds, but nothing happens. The lens turns as if to focus and that's all that happens. Am I doing something wrong or is the camera broke?

Is this also with the internal flash? I am not sure of this, but if so, test by trying two things.
Try without the flash, see if it is different.
Also, with the flash, try setting only 1 exposure. I feel sure the internal flash won't like multiples.

I got it working. I'm not sure if this is how other people do it, but this is what I have to do to make it work. First I go to self timer and set up the delay and the number of pictures. Then I press a button under the "ok" button that has a timer icon next to it. From there, I highlight the delay that I want and press ok. Then when I press the shutter button it works.
