I leave my phone charger on the counter but whenever I need it again it's not there. My son took it to charge his Tablet. The cord that came with my D90 is the same cord which I use now because so many times the cords around here quit working. Not sure if it's a short in the cord or what. This maybe your problem if the cord you use is used often. Especially if removed from yanking on the cord and not the ends.
