If i save a image to my desktop from anywhere but mainly Ps its not there when i go to my desktop,if i go back into Ps and go to save it again it shows in the box that opens and says its already there, even if i over write it it does not show when i go to my desktop,if i save it to a folder every thing is ok,if i restart my PC then it shows on my desktop.

Now my Mcafee is due for renew-ell in the next few weeks and things normally go strange about this time so i wonder if its them trying to convince me i need to renew :D

I was reading, if you right click anywhere on the desktop, then click "refresh" that should fix it.

You could also try and set up a new folder on the desktop and then save the image there, see if that works.

What I do is create a folder on the desktop every month just to store these temporary pictures. Usually I have another folder inside this let's say nov2015 folder that will hold my psd files. When the month is over I then move the folder into my photo disks and then start a new one on the desktop.

But why your saved pictures don't show up on your desktop is behind me...

I run a very similar system, its more when ime learning in Ps and save a file out at a certain point, then i just drop it on the desktop as a temporary measure, its working ok at the moment.

This happens to me a lot too. I often save things on the desktop that I need to remember to look at. In my case it is usually a downloaded pdf that I need to read. For awhile I thought I was just overlooking the files in my clutter, but I'm certain they don't show at times. After I screw around a bit, they always appear. I'll have to try the right click refresh, I bet that will work.

My desktop has multiple PSD files, jpegs, folders, etc so there are times when it's difficult to find one particular file. When that happens, I go to the start button and click the file's name. Doing that has always identified the file as being where it should be. Have you tried doing a search that way to see what it offers?

I have the same problem and hitting Refresh always takes care of the problem.

But I really like the temp folder Marcel. I think I will try that. It will at least keep the desktop a little neater

Some times with windows it does not refresh the page/directory. Has happened a lot of times with me. Just press F5 and it refreshes. With directories if they were open or more than two are open simultaneously, one does not refresh automatically. I just close the directroey and open again and then it keeps refreshing images as they are created.
