I have a SB-600 which no longer works via the 'shoe' but will work via TTL (something to do with salt lake and no base and me having a few drinks and pushing it into the salt laden dirt - doesn't mix apparently). But is still firing and I may set it up above or off to one side with a diffuser etc and see how that performs.
