Post your: Let's do lunch shots!

I occasionally get lucky enough to get some shots when critters are having a bit of a snack. Usually the snack is not terribly pleased with it.

I'll start it off with this robber fly munching on some kind of bee.

Played around with off camera flash today. Not a total success, but got some interesting results.

Here's one from the left side.

And here is one from the back. I don't like it as well, but it has some interesting elements that might work well by balancing the front or side with either another flash, or perhaps a reflector. Unfortunately, I would need a third hand for that. I know, a small tripod to hold one of the devices. Two tripods and all my other gear would be a bit much to haul out into the field. I do like how the light shines through the legs and body of the spider. The wasp was in deep shadow. I was able to bring some detail up, but there are limits to that.

I got the bright idea of merging a handful of images taken with the flash from different angles into one HDR image. Turned out very similar to the first one. I was hoping it would choose the legs and head from the backlit, but no dice.
