Well sort of a new purchase My 3T Seagate Hard-drive died. I ordered another one. THEN I looked into the warranty - and it appeared I might get it covered. They have lots of rules about shipping in original packaging - which I didn't have but packed it up well and sent it off with the RMA documents I got on line. The replacement unit arrived today. Now I have Two 3T internal hard drives, one 2T internal hard drive, two SSD's (one hosts my Windows 8.1 OS the other my Windows 7 OS - a dual boot system). I have one Lacie 3T external in a case, a smaller 2T portable hard-drive and an old 300GB portable hard drive. (I also have another 2T small portable drive for my laptop). So 3+3+2+3+2+.3= 13.3 Terabytes of storage for my main computer not counting the SSD's. Time to do some serious reconfiguration. When I upgrade to Windows 10 I'll being dropping the Windows 7 option and just go for one OS. Might put one of the SSD's into the laptop - there is room for a second drive in the laptop and I like my OS and key programs on an SSD. Again after Windows 10 upgrade. I'm thinking the two internal 3T's can be mirrored for redundancy and this will be my main data drive. The external 3T will back up the internals and be stored off site. That leaves me two 2T small externals - one is for the laptop the other? I think I'm good for at least another few months of photographic images .... :) Since I went to my D610 and started shooting RAW my storage needs have grown exponentially. I need to be more selective about what I save, and I have started learning to do this better. Data / Image management is not the most interesting part of this hobby but you don't want to fail at that task.
