I have early rise insomnia (meaning I don't have trouble falling asleep but I tend to wake up at ungodly early hours of the morning) which can lead to some less than discriminate purchases at odd hours. To wit: this sub-$100 Afaith Q-666C tripod. I'm calling it the "Tripod of the Beast", for all the obvious reasons. .... While I have been wanting something a little lighter and more portable, there was still some mild surprise when it showed up on my doorstep Saturday afternoon (photo is stock)... .... .... Testing for this little hot-rod is still pending but I have to say, for what I apparently paid for it, it's a fairly nice little addition. I can tell it's no match for my Manfrotto 055XPROB but the interloper is also a fraction of the weight and slings over my shoulder (padded bag included (take that, Manfrotto!)) with all the bulk of a paperback book. And with it being so easy to carry around, the chances that it *will* be carried around are far greater... Mind blown? Yeah, I thought so. You're welcome. ....
