In either of the sets I mentioned, there are 3 tubes. You can use one, two, or all three together. This guy shows the difference between using extension tubes compared to a shot taken without one. If you do really small subjects such as itty bitty bugs or single snowflakes, extension tubes will magnify your subject more. But you don't need to use them.
