[QUOTE="ohkphoto, post: 12469, member: 1573"] I love this thread and it's taken me some time to respond, not because I don't have any or too many favorite photos, but because I spent quite a bit of time thinking about what photography and photos mean to me. Regardless of how many "pretty pics" I take, I always come back to this one for so many reasons, some obvious, others not. This photo was taken in the summer of 2009 and Nicky was one of those "once in a lifetime" dogs. I always felt that he was my guardian angel who just decided to incarnate into this dog body. I was playing around in the studio with some lighting and for 11 years, he was my best model, so we were having a grand time with "self portraits". Three months later, he died. This photo always reminds me of how fleeting moments in life are, and when a little voice (or gut instinct) tells you this is a photo you should make, take the shot. Sometimes you don't know why until later. I keep this photo in a special frame in my home, where I can always see it. Even though I love all the other pets who have wandered into my life, and even though there are many other photographs more "technically worthy" of being framed, this is the one that always tugs at my heart.
