Portable Lighting?

Hello, I am looking for opinions on what the best continuous portable lighting is, why and at what price. Also where I can get it. I own a D3100 if that matters. I am looking for mostly outdoor portraits and I am hoping to get into shooting some vehicles. It would be a major plus to also be able to bring them inside and use them in the home studio as well! Let me know your suggestions!

portraits and cars ..bit different in size ...cars inside ...big backdrop ???
Three SB700 wont cut it you need big mains powered flash and umbrellas etc etc ....big $$$
For portraiture outside you will be amazed what a 20w led video light can do to light a face or put light into the hair.....variable power and variable distance ..works well and cheap

I have no dought I could shoot cars outside with 3 SB700....

Choose the right time and use natural lighting...Probably produce better images this way..
