Glen I bought a heavy duty backdrop stand from ebay PHOTOGRAPHY Portable heavy duty background stand 9'X10' | eBay The set packs away nicely and easy to set up on location etc. I did try material back drops I.e. muslin and cotton but both need ironing first if you like or just blow out the background. I did switch to paper and I have never looked back. I have done several shoots for friends and family and they loved it. Paper means they can stand on it too so full body shots. I guess it comes down to preference but if you are doing anything other than portraits then I recommend paper. Cheers
