I would save your money and buy the 7100 or is it up to 7300 now? Either way the D3200 is a pig. I have one and the detail quality on my one is disgusting. Turns beautiful photos into rubbish. just look at the thread I started called 3200 blues and you will see the images my 3200 destroyed.
Look at the photos I have taken with the D3200, that I have posted on this site, then click he facebook link under my avatar and look at those. my 8 megapixel camera takes better shots than my 24 mega pixel camera. Its the detail that is lacking so how can this be the users fault
put a granny in a corvette and Jeff Gordon in a Datsun B210 and let them run 10 laps at Martinsville and see who wins, in other words it's the operators fault.
I'm reminded of something from many, many years ago. A couple of friends and I went up into the mountains over Santa Barbara to do some shooting. All I had was my dad's old .22 rifle, nothing particularly impressive. The other two friends had quite a variety of different guns.
At some point, we found a couple of old beer bottles, which we set up on a spot and then retreated perhaps a hundred yards or so away. Both my friends, each with whatever he thought his best gun was, were blasting away, shooting at those bottles and missing.
Somewhere in all of this, I fired just two shots, and with those two shots, took out both the bottles. Various other experiences during the day consistently showed that in spite of having the least impressive firearm present, I was the best marksman among the three of us.
A few days later, a third friend filled me in on a few details that I hadn't previously known. One of the friends with whom I was shooting that day had recently received an unexpected windfall, and out of it had spent about $1200 on a rifle, and was convinced that with it, he was going to be a great marksman. The day after that shooting excursion, discouraged by having been shown up by me with my dad's humble .22, he turned around and sold that rifle for half what he had paid for it.
The best rifle in the world won't make you a good marksman, if you just don't have the skill and aptitude for it, and neither will the best camera make you a good photographer. I'd bet that if you put a D4 in Iron lung's hands, and handed his D3200 to any of us that actually know what we're doing, the best pictures by far will come from the D3200.
