8-8-13: Today is just a small collection of fauna that I caught doing what fauna do. The red squirrel saga continues. I came home from work and Scrat, our local red squirrel was hanging around the bird feeder. It turns out that Scrat is a she, as you will see from one of the photos. Also, she is still trying to make a nest in the barn. We heard her walking around in loft and then actually caught her peering down at us from the loft. She was too quick for me to get a photo. But here are today's squirrel photos. Got Fleas? It amazes me how squirrels can seem to contradict the laws of physics. She looks plastered on the side of the tree, like those witch Hallowe'en decorations. Gravity? What's That? Ah, nuthatch fledglings. I like nuthatches. They are rather fun to watch. Got Another One This next nuthatch photo is not as sharp as I would like it, but I just liked the bird's expression. Up Tree, Down Tree I heard some noises in the woods and walked over. I saw a doe and her two yearlings in the woods, just staring at me. The twins used to be triplets but one of them was hit by a car, hence my vulture photos from last week. This particular one kept staring at me, then wandered off. Peek-A-Boo
