It's a FREE download from Nikon. I'm not sure what you are doing now with Elements as far as editing goes, but NX-d has come quite a ways along in the general basic editing tasks and it is pretty easy. Exposure can be adjusted, White Balance, Picture Control settings can be changed like Portrait, Landscape, Vivid.... Saturation, Contrast, Brightness, Hue, etc can be adjusted. Shadows and Highlights can be adjusted. Sharpening, Unsharp Mask, Lens correction and color curves... As you can see it is pretty good for general adjustments. Things that are missing that I think Elements has is the ability to select/isolate specific areas in a photo for adjusting and some of the other more detailed type of adjustments. My workflow is based on FREE software. Ha! View NX-i from Nikon for transferring RAW files from the camera to the computer. Then Capture NX-D (which can be accessed from NX-i) for doing my color, exposure, contrast, etc adjustments. Then I use GIMP to fine tune things like removing something or healing a spot, etc. This is where specific areas of the photo are adjusted as needed, layer masks are used, etc. Also the Copyright is added and it is resized for the internet in GIMP. Other "enhancements" ie picture frame or adding vignette, motion blur are done in GIMP. NIK tools and On One?? photo are used for some effect in rare instances.
