Photography Start Up - How I spent my money

I decided to invest some money in Photography.
The idea was to buy entry level products that could allow me to practise and have fun.
I'm interested mainly in portraits.

AMAZON

500 USD = Nikon D3300 Kit with 18-55 and 55-200 lenses

140 USD = LimoStudio kit that includes 3 Muslim backdrops (White, black, Green), stand for backdrops, 3 umbrella reflectors with stands and light bulbs, clamps

24.50 USD = AmazonBasics 60-Inch Lightweight Tripod

B&H New York

106 USD =
1 TB Toshiba pocket external hard drive (around 56 USD)
2 Lexar Pro SDHC memory cards, 16 GB each (around 17 USD both)
2 Vello Camera's Hoods

770 USD Total

I'd have loved to buy the Nikon 85mm f/1.8 AF-D but I was out of budget... Maybe next time.

You bought three "muslim" backdrops? Have they tried to convert you or kill you yet? :D

I think that's "muslin".

Be warned, photography is a hobby that never ends. You think you're done spending money...yeah, right.

I started with a D40. Since then I've gone through a D70s, D3000, D3200, D5000, FOUR D200s, I currently use a D800, and my D810 arrives next week. And lenses are a different but similar story. It hasn't been a year since I started walking this path. But in my defense, I have made a profit on the resale of most of the things I've chosen to sell.

Hopefullly you don't have the bug quite as bad as I do. :D

hahahahah ROFL I thought that it was a mid-eastern invention... I had all this National Geographic picture in my mind of Tuareg desert camps with Persian carpets and "Muslim backdrops" separating the different rooms and you just ruined it. LOL

Did you bought all that stuff in a year???

Well I just don't have that budget but of course I'm already working on my new shopping cart:

2x 10x20 musliN backdrops (I don´t want to have problems with CIA)
1 speed light flash
35mm 1.8 prime lens
a couple of soft boxes
some more lighting

I cannot spent too much but on the other hand I think... Well... All that stuff - here in Argentina - could cost 2 or 3 time... If S*** hit the fan I'll sell it all.

Just a little lie...

I got a few insane deals and made a profit on them. That allowed me to upgrade...several times...and very quickly. I also have the ability to pick up broken lenses and cameras, fix them, and resell them for a profit. It helps!
