If your only printing a few pictures here and there for around the house, then a nice Canon printer will do. Mine works pretty good for smaller pictures, and does up to 8x10. I got mine for around 199. Prints and scans. If your looking for a professional grade.. One of the other guys might be able to weigh in. I'm not too firmiliar with those. Don't buy HP.
