Maybe we can make a sticky for announcements.

There will be a total eclipse of the moon at perigee (The media calls this a 'super moon'.) It is also a Blue Moon, which means it is the second full moon in a calendar month.

You can put your location in this link to see how much eclipse will be visible and at what time.

Well...now I have an early morning flight on the 31st. Just need to juggle if I have time to stop and get a shoot of the moon AND make it to the airport on time, but at least I know I’ll be up one way or another...

So, I got up in time to photograph the eclipse. However, one of my dogs has a back injury and kept me up for 2 nights. I went outside to see what postion the moon was in. I layed down in the comfy chair with my jacket on and passed out. By the time I got back up, the moon was just over the horizon and barely visible.

I dropped my dog at the vet's this morning for observation. He was acting off all day yesterday and pacing at night.

Sorry to hear about your pup!

It looked like we were teed up for a gorgeous sunrise on the other horizon, but my departure gate had no view back towards the moon. One day, I'm going to be able to try out this retirement thing that Don talks so highly of. :)

Mars is almost in opposition.

Right now, you can't miss it. I looked up and thought I saw Venus, but it had a slight orange tint, so I took out my sky guide and verified I was looking at Mars.
