I just received my Pelican 1610 camera case with dividers. This is the case that I will be using to safely secure my equipment. The size difference is enormous compared to the smaller Pelican 1510 which is suitable as a carry-on item.
I have the carry-on one and I love it. It is heavy but I travel by car a lot and it is packed with both by D7100 and my wife's D7000 and a few extra lenses. I don't have to worry about it getting bounced around in the back of the car with the luggage in this case
So this is the final configuration that I went with to divide the camera equipment. Obviously, the 1610 offers much more room. You can even stack smaller lenses such as a 85mm and 50mm on top of each other by placing another partition in between. I am pretty happy with both of these luggages. The only down side is that they are very heavy but that is what you get for getting the best protection and construction.
I have the 1510 and carry a 7100, 700, & 800. The lenses I carry is the 70-200 2.8 mounted on the 7100, the 700 & 800 have no lenses mounted. The lenses unmounted are the 24-70, 16-35, 50, & 105. I also have a 2x converter in there. Packed carefully the 1510 can hold a bunch.
