It took me a long time to decide to pull the trigger, after reading countless reviews and vacillating back and forth I finally did it today, and ordered it today from Admrama—I can’t wait until it comes.
Normally I would be experiencing a little anxiety on spending that kind of money, I'm cheap, but I'm on pins and needles waiting. If I wasn't so cheap I would have paid for faster delivery.
I've got one coming too and it's supposed to be here tomorrow along with the Yongnuo YN560II flash. Seems there's always something to add to the camera bag and nothing is cheap! I've now got the wife checking for nikon lenses during her garage sale exploits.
Mine finally arrived an hour ago. Took a dozen photos. Seems the focus is sharp and quick. After reading good and bad reviews, you never know what to expect.
Took a photo of the neighbors roof condenser with my fence in front and palm tree 1/3 mile behind and switched back and forth with center focus. Lens responded very well with me moving only a couple degrees with each focus.
That's Quincy, he's our 6 yr old wire fox terrier. We give him more of a practical haircut rather than the usual contours for the breed. Less work and less mess.
I have that lens and love it. However, word of caution. The lens hood is a piece of @*%#! I got my lens $100 off from Best Buy because it had been returned unused due to the end of the hood that attaches to your lens coming apart. I figured no biggie I will go online and order a replacement. I soon found that problem with the hood to be a common issue. So what I did was simply reassemble the hood and used epoxy along the seem to keep it together. Works perfect! But I do want to give you that heads up that not all of them stay together so well.
I just ordered this lens as well. I can't wait to start playing with it, although I have no idea when I'll get a chance to take it anywhere interesting to use it!
