Opteka GPS & Remote Shutter Release

I purchased the above for my D5100 and the shutter release cable does not fit into the MIC plug in. Am I doing something wrong or did I receive the wrong cable. The GPS works fine.

Good luck, mine took too long to acquire a GPS signal so I returned it.
