I have the opportunity to purchase a used Tamron 17-50MM f2.8 VC in E++ condition for $300 from a local camera shop. The lens is currently reserved for me and being shipped to a closer store location for pick up. If I decide to purchase it, I have 30 days to play with it and see if it is "right" for me.
I have been reading a lot on this lens and it sounds what like what I am looking for in an upgrade from my kit 18-140 VR lens. The only thing I am not sure is the VC, as I have read that the non VC may be a better lens.
A little bit about me:
I recently decided to dedicate my time to photography and really learn how to take good pictures and get out of the auto and assisted modes. From what I have read on the forums, I would be classified as a Generalist - just taking pictures of family, friends, landscapes, travel, etc., basically whatever catches my eye and nothing in particular.
I currently have the D7000, and my two main lenses are the 18-140 Kit Lens and 35mm 1.8.
Other lenses I have at home, but don't get used too often:
Please let me know if you have any questions or need any additional information.
Thank you for your time in advance!
All the Best,
Matt
