Thanks for expanding my mind Pete. I didn't know anything about the 20. Looks like you are starting to build up a small collection of old Nikkors. How do you like the 105? IMO it is one of the best lenses ever made. I would love to shoot a 105 on FX.

I'm not sure whether to get anymore, as i dont have superfluous lenses that sit on shelves, like collectors, but if something seems a useful length, then its possible i might.

Looks like you might be hooked Jeff !

Here's some more pics just to whet your appetite

Another 2 1ft shots, both on a tripod this time, at f3.5 and the 2nd at f11 without moving subject or camera. My bass guitar EQ pedal square on to the camera, no silly angled shots. I also lit the subject with a real bright light

Pic 1 at f3.5, ISO 320, 1/40th 0ev, no flash, and got a much better SS

Pic 2 100% crop. No processing at all, just RAW to JPG and resize on pic for forums

So have you got any old Nikkors in mind for your next purchase ?

Oh, PS

I meant to say that 105 is a beast. A real keeper just like the 20 ;)

20/3.5 haha, 24/2.8, 28/2.8 Ais, 35/1.4 Ais, 50/1.8 Ais, 85/1.8 K converted, 300/4 Ai or something...those are the good ones.

Next is probably a Fuji body S3 or S5 and a stretch for one of the above.

So Pete...we need some camera porn of the 20 now sir. :) Be sure to get the serial number in the shot so we can record it as you owning it and we shall be able to see when it was made.

Cool. Good "portrait" of a lens sir. Mid range numbered unit 1982-83 production. They don't build them like this no more folks. Can you imagine having modern lenses with all metal barrels and mount with rings that are smoother than a baby butt? :)
