Posted in off topic as the photo's are with the little point and shoot that we have at work. We are having some new equipment installed and the crane that will be lifting in it in to position is just being built up.
It's a bit on the BIG size.

To add a little bit of scale, here's me stood next to it, pictures are bad as the point and shoot didn't like the fact that it was starting to get dark.

The lifting boom when they get it built up will be 400 feet long!
May sneak the Nikon in tomorrow and get some decent pictures.

Great machine,i worked on the oil refinery when it was being built,at one point we had what we where told was the two biggest mobile cranes in the world on site for a particular lift,we where not allowed on site on lift day and it did go wrong,one guy was killed when the item being lifted swung and crushed him against a barrier.

Thanks for that cheery tale Mike! Obviously the risks are there but the amount of preparation that goes in this sort of job now is unbelievable, hopefully they got all their sums right.
