To the south of Derby runs the Trent and Mersey Canal which links the River Trent (Nottingham) to the Mersey near Runcorn I think.&nbsp;One of our favourite walks is to follow the canal path down to the Trent and walk along the riverbank to Sawley Marina on the way to Nottingham.
