Great idea with a black pillow (what it looks like in picture 2). Mostly I've seen this done on flat surface or on a blanket in color.
And the picture itself, is spot on

I am shooting a 3 months baby today, outside, so I too will use colored blankets..

LOL! I've only had one baby have an accident on my backdrops (knock on wood). Luckily it wasn't #2.
