I will lead off with this: Check for new firmware for your Z7, especially if it is the original Z7 and not the current Z7-II. When I first brought home my Z5 (which is an even newer camera) it would give me a compatibility error message for the FTZ-II. The Z5 needed an upgrade to use the FTZ-II. Now both your lenses have a "D" suffix, that means the autofocus depends on a motor inside of the camera body to operate. That system only continued on the upper-end of DSLR bodies and it has been removed entirely in Z-mount. Now they should both work and take photos with your Z7, but you lose the ability to autofocus because there is no motor built into the lenses. Now go Google "Nikon Z7 firmware download" and follow the directions. (spoiler: version 3.40 added support for the FTZ-II) There is a rumored 3rd party F to Z adapter with an included AF motor and screw-drive to launch very soon by MonsterAdapter. Not seen anywhere but at rumor websites as of today. I have been following this news with some interest.
