One of our shooting buddies is a professional photographer and life long Nikon shooter. He had me thinking on several occasions while we were out, setup adjacent to one another (particularly when the background was busy, like a tree line) we would go to shoot the same bird flying by & he would seemingly always get locked on and get the shots that I missed due to focus grabbing the background. Then, when the 500PF was announced he suggested how nice that would be for Wifey simply from a weight perspective. She was shooting a Canon 500F4 at the time. When I began investigating the 500PF, I got more intrigued. I ended up picking up a D500 & 200-500 for us both to play with, thinking that if it did well, we could get her the 500PF. Well, long story short... I took that combo for initial setup & testing and was flabbergasted by the focus acquisition, lock, & retention. Suddenly, I understood. The wheels began turning faster. When I came across a buyer for all my Canon gear, it was done. So far, we are very happy. If her 500PF would ever sow up, it would be even better! :) Thank you all for the welcome. Phil
