The measure of the "more", the "better" and the cost equivalent for what you get that you don't have is hugely subjective. I bought the D7000 two years ago and know the camera about as well as I can. I've experienced its brilliance and its shortcomings. Kit price at that time was $1498.98 on Amazon with the same lens offered now, so we're essentially talking a $100 bump in retail price. So any value comparisons should be made against that and not the current price of the D7000, which is "old technology". There is no doubt in my mind that you get more than your hundred dollar's worth in added features with just the 7 frame bracketing (not available on the D600), 1.3X crop function with 1 more fps, add'l video capabilities (mic placement is brilliant and should be that way on EVERY camera with video) and sensor size. Some are improvements I hoped for, others things I either didn't think it needed or may not use, but they are thoughtful. If I rue anything it's that I can't use the battery grip from the D7000 on it. I was seriously thinking about leaving the DX world behind, but this camera makes sense to a group of shooters, like myself, in a lot of ways. It's beyond the needs of some, and falls short for others. I'm just hoping it delivers in actual performance the way it does on paper.
