Thanks Robbins for the feedback...
To be honest I don't want t buy twice neither and went to see both cameras. I liked the D7200 and the D7100 but found it bulky for a all around camera. That's why I was inclined to the D5500 or D5600.
What you think?
Guess it sort of depends on what your used too. I never really considered the 7100 to be that much larger or heavier than the D5200 I had, it was a bit bigger but not by such a huge margin it really made that much of a difference.
I did notice a fairly significant increase in the amount of "keepers" I could get with the 7100, thanks in part to the better AF system but also it was the dual command dials allowing me to change both my aperture and shutter speed without having to take the camera out of shooting position. I found that to be worth it's weight in gold especially for action shooting.
You can find some great deals on the 7100 but the buffer is pretty limiting, so really for shooting sports at least when I had the 7100 I found myself shooting in JPG a lot. RAW would fill the buffer too quickly and I'd miss too many opportunities that way. It gives you a little less to work with in post but it's still very doable.
As for weight/size, the 7100/7200 really aren't that much bigger or heavier than the 5xxx counterparts, at least not in my experience. Especially not when paired with something like a 70-200mm 2.8 (my preferred sports shooting lens), the extra weight of the 7xxx series actually becomes a plus. It balances better with the heavier zoom.
But really you can get some nice sport shots with either of the 5xxx series. I just found the 7xxx series much, much easier to work with for sports shooting.
