Nikon D5100 problem!!!

Ok guys, please help me with this one. I have bought d5100 18-55mm vr dx kit last week. It worked fine until today.

When in Live Mode I take a photo at let's say f32 (or any other f), after the photo is taken, the aperture blades won't retract to original position. Instead, I have to switch from live view to viewfinder and back again to live view or turn the camera off and back ON again.

The same thing happens with my other lenses when I attach them to d5100.

How does it work when you use the viewfinder? And how do you know the aperture blades won't retract? Upload one of the pictures that this did it on.

Guidelines to adding a photo to your post.

1. Resize photo to 1000px on the long side.
2. Resolution set to 72px

These guidelines will be good for viewing on a computer but will not be good for printing. This will help safeguard your copyright.

I am not available to post a photo of it but I will do it as soon as I am free.

Ok, let's explain it this way.

I turn the camera on. Set it to live view, set my aperture to f32 and take a desired photo. It takes the photo and it looks as it is supposed to. But after taking the shot, the screen is darker (less light is coming in through the lens), I turn the camera around and look into the lens and see that the aperture blades did not retract. (They are supposed to be wide open).

While using the VIEWFINDER mode, the blades retract to their prime position. So, this only happens when I'm using my Live View mode.

Live view does take longer to reset. A noticeable difference. Also If you are shooting F32 is the exposure correct? If it is a long exposure it is going to take even longer to reset. If you take a picture and just let it stay the way it is will it reset at any time on its own?\\

I have left it idle in live view mode and after one or two minutes it automatically switched to viewfinder mode. The blades retracted to the original position. But, then I switched it to Live View mode again and the blades came out again.

The problem i think is the exposure.
Like Don said, in Live View the entire process is a lot slower..
So if you are at f/32 & there isn't sufficient light, then the camera is gonna try to find the optimum exposure time (assuming you are in A mode)

Does this happen even if you take pics outdoors or in bright light?
My guess would be that it won't...
