Hi everyone, new member here. I'm a Canon shooter and am giving consideration to switch over to Nikon. The reason being is that I've had had nothing but terrible service provided by Canon Canada. I had sent my (at the time) brand new 1DX in for service because it was having the "oil issue". It took 3 weeks for them to send it back. It was sent back with an absolutely filthy sensor and a bunch of crap in the viewfinder. That really ticked me off. Now, a couple months later, the bottom grip of the 1DX is beginning to peel off. I guess the tech didn't apply enough glue when putting it back together. Also, the rubber weather mount on my 70-200 ii has "chipped". I noticed this just a little over a week after my warranty had expired. Knowing this is simple fix (especially for a Canon tech,) I contacted customer service. I was expecting a reasonable estimate. Alas, I was wrong. They want $316 + the part. After shipping, labour, and the part, I'm looking at close to $400. $400 for a 25 cent piece of rubber that takes a tech < 5 minutes to install! To rub salt in the wound, reading online, Canon USA charges around $20 ($10 labour/$10 part.) Some have even had it replaced for free (being a couple years out of warranty too.) Anyway, what I would like to ask is: How was your experience with Nikon Canada? If Nikon has significantly better service, I'm willing to sell all my Canon gear to make the switch over to Nikon. Thanks
