Hi everyone i bought a second hand one 40mm DX Micro. there is small crack on the plastic focus window which the seller said he was simply tripped over the camera bag and lens was inside. Did few check everything looks fine. only one thing im not sure is the focus ring, when you turn to infinity it stops but if you keep turn the ring it will move free (same when you turn other side) is it normal?? thank you for help.
And is anything else i need to check? there is no dent or any sign of lens been dropped, thank you!

Unless I'm misunderstanding, that doesn't sound normal. The focus ring on my 40mm macro stops when you reach either end of the focus range. The focus ring will not turn further than the stop for me.

The lense has had a bad fall/blow. It cracked the window, and broke the hard stop inside. It may be fine now, but you never know what else is broken inside. Repairs of the AF motors are expensive. I suggest that you return the lense.

Thought i read some where there are auto focus lenses that dont have a infinity stop when manual focusing, but if rockets has one then it must be a fault
