Hi all,

so after I got my new lens (for which I paid 20 euro) cleaned up I finally managed to get out to the lake and take some test shots this morning. I am extremely surprised by the quality of the results! As a general walk-about lens this is a perfect focal range for me. The lens even doubles up as a borderline macro..... with limitations obviously. Sharpness and contrast across the entire focal range seems to be excellent, the Bokeh is pleasant enough. Here some sample pics, all straight out the camera with no post processing. This lens gets from me a very enthusiastic 2 thumbs-up!

I also have that lens although it's 3.3-5.6 but I think of similar construction. What I love about it is it's weight. What I don't like is how the front element rotates while focusing. This is the only lens I used all last week while in Florida and I'm happy with it.

Hi,

I have the same lens - but paid double what you paid for :( - but beautiful photos. I have been using the kit lens - will give this a go.

Thats great. Macro is the lens missing from my collection at the moment. This one focuses pretty close so i have ordered a set of macro filters to try out. Post a couple of pics when you have tried out the lens!

I've got one of these as well and tried it on my D7100 a while back. It wasn't too bad, but I found the newer G version a fraction sharper, with better colour rendition. Either lens though is a bargain and a half decent alternative to paying a lot more for a new lens.
