Then I discovered AF D glass, the kit I have assembled for very little money is just astounding!! This forum and a good trusted LCS (no big box stores for me!) are solid gold. Getting out and shooting in proximity to Nikon pros has helped me a lot too, most of the pros I have been shooting surf with love to talk gear and give their opinions, that is what got me on to the Nikon 300 AF-S f/4!! It is all a fun learning process of which this forum is a key ingredient!Good luck and let me know what you end up snagging! Don't forget the Nikon AF D 80-200 2.8 if you want to keep the budget down to be able to buy more glass! I have a buddy who has the Nikon 70-200 f/2.8 VR 1 which I have shot with too and like a lot.So many choices, at so many price points. Go forth my friend and demo!
