That stop of light helps shutter speed, ISO and autofocus speed.The 300 f4 should be as good if not better than the 70-200 2.8 with the TC attached. The big advantage of the combo is the option to use the bare 70-200 2.8 lens which is very good.I tried my wife's kenko 1.4 TC on the 70-200 today and it works very well. As a result she is just getting the 70-200 2.8 this week and we can haggle over who gets which TC for the moment.</blockquote>
