Hello folks I have a Nikon 28-70mm f/2.8D AF-S IF-ED which has developed a focussing issue. It sometimes will focus once when I switch the camera on & then stop focussing after that point. Other times it just will randomly start to work or stop working. It does the same on both my D610 & F5 bodies so is a lens problem. I sent it to Nikon for a repair estimate which is nearly £400 UK which will nearly double the price I paid for the lens second hand. This includes replacing the SWM & cleaning the glass, recalibrating, so should be functionally like new. I like this lens & it's image & build quality despite its weight & it will work with my F3, F5 & D610. I guess I'm just after some opinions as to whether this is worth doing. Or any advice on where in the UK I might be able to get it repaired for less money. (Are Nikon really expensive for service).
