Nikon 200mm f2 VRI

Sighted this big old lens that has been on my wishlist for a very long time now during my "window" shopping. ;) To give you an idea of the price, just take out the two zeros and convert it to USD. What do you guys think?

The VR version of that is closer to $5,000 here in the states... there is one floating around B&H Photo for $3600.00

​If I'm understanding what you're saying, and that one is $2800... then, if that's in pristine condition, that would be an excellent price...

I don't see how you left the place w/o it if it's in good shape. I'm assuming it's not new at that price.

It is $2,810.00 but if you show your passport they will take out 5%, so that would be around $2,670. I tried it with my D800E and took a couple of shots at f2. I'll bring my passport once I return next week.

Looking at the photo again and seeing some of the other lenses and their respective prices make me long for the days of abundant Space-A travel...:mad:

There look like there are some excellent buys there. If you can't find your passport, I could drop by with mine.

Reminds me of a visit to the Nikon booth at MacWorld a few years ago. They had a D3 with the 200mm F/2 mounted on it. I could barely lift that combination to take a picture. Yes, I am a weakling; thanks for noticing.

Thanks for the offer WM. There are several stores in Ginza that I frequently monitor everynow and then. The USD vs Yen exchange rate has improved a lot and now is the better time to get adopt these lenses.

That's one reason why tripods were invented!! ;)

I just looked at all of our photos in this thread, and all of those cool lenses are still there. ;)

Maybe I should book a trip! :rolleyes:
