Lol Sure if you paying for it! Lol By the way I might have a couple other lenses to test for ya too, if you got a few thousand to blow! Lol :D

Pffffft! Consider me broke. I just posted a Market place ad here begging for old flash units and/or accessories. I can't buy anything right now.

I am thinking of making the switch to the 70-300mm VRII as well

The biggest advantage of the 55-300mm is the compact size and low weight, which makes it a good lens for hiking.
I think for AF speed, image quality, build quality and the ability to use on fX cameras the 70-300mm is a bit better. It also has much better ergonomics for manual focusing.

I am going to sell the 18-55mm and 55-300mm I got with the D5100 I bought a couple months ago and buy a 70-300mm.

My girlfriend has a 55-300, the build quality on that one is not that great.
It's platicky, and rotates and extents when focusing wich is really anoying if you're not used too it.

I would deffiantly go with the 70-300 ;)

The build quality is about what you woulld expect for the price and yes thats another reason to get the 70-300 the front element won't rotate when zooming.
I'm looking at the Tamron 70-300 VC USD or Nikon 70-300mm VR to upgrade from the 55-300mm.
