My plan is to update my older 80-400VR to the new one. My current body is the d50 that I plan on keeping but am having trouble trying to decide the "best" body to go with this lense for photographing birds mainly. Not to concerned about the cost of the body as the mortgage is now paid off :D Any suggestions on which body would be greatly appreciated. my understanding this newer lense will work nicely on a FX body, so going this route is an option also. Thanks for taking the time to read my post and any feedback you can give.

If cost truly isn't a factor, then get the D800. I've been shooting birds with my Sigma 150-500mm on it in DX mode and getting stellar results. The 16MP file sizes are perfect - large enough to do what I want, and pre-cropped for what would probably be dead space otherwise, so I save time on importing. And I have the option to switch to 36MP's if I'm close enough. Sensor is brilliant.
