Yea I thought the same thing about the plate, but it doesn't fit those or anything I could find on the tripod. I sent a message to the company asking but still no reply. Just another mystery. Maybe an extra from Ikea that they just threw in to mess with people. lol

lol:) You have gotten me curious now. I am going to take a look at mine tonight. If it serves no purpose, i will chuck it in with all my other allen keys:)

This is very rude... your derogatory response about him wasting time was just that, a waste of time. He posted with some general thoughts that may or may not be helpful ..

Yours had no helpful thoughts and appears to be coming from a very angry man. If you do not like it here, or the people here, then please feel free to go somewhere that you are happier.

This is a great community and we do not need it spoiled... Hopefully you will be in a better mood later and can contribute positively. I look forward to those positive ones.

Thanks & have a great day..

The allen key is to undo the "ball" from the quick release mount.

Nope tried that already. There are only 7 visible Allan key screws ( 6 the same size ) that I can see on the tripod and none of them work with the key they provided. The mystery continues. I still think it is some kind of mind game. I just sent off another e-mail to the company to see if they have some kind of explanation as to its use. It might be something simple and just the wrong Allan key that came with my kit. Not like I have a shortage of Allan keys or anything but just want to know where it belongs.

I heard from Fotopro UK and they have no idea why I have an Allan key with my tripod. So guessing this was a mistake that was tossed in the kit. I have had some use of the tripod around the house and it is pretty stable and even with the big lens and the battery pack it shows no sign of shake at all. I must say that I am very impressed about this unit. easy to set up and solid yet still pretty light. I have only older tripods to compare it to so it is not really a fair test. The knobs are easy to locate and turn and are very smooth. twist locks are fast and solid and don't have to reef down on them to get them to lock. Not that I would hang myself off this tripod but why would I (read someone say that this is the test of a good tripod).
