Use this software mainly for removing digital noise and cloning. Next step for me is to learn about adding textures to backgrounds. Are there any ebooks or good sites for videos to start me on the process. Thanks for any help with this.

Same recommendations. For textures and backgrounds you'll need layers, which Lightroom doesn't do. Photoshop Elements will likely do 90% of what you'll ever want, but for advanced stuff there you'll want full blown Photoshop.

Okay, so if Lightroom doesn't do it that is easy enough. I am using the trial version of it for now so purchasing something like elements would make more sense. Maybe I will try a trial version of elements and if it works out purchase it. Thanks for the tip.

Lightroom does a whole lot for you - just not layers. If you're shooting RAW then you get the full blown Adobe Camera RAW facility with Lightroom, but only a partial with Elements. I believe having them both is more than enough for most hobbyists. Lightroom is a great cataloging tool as well.

Not to start a new bruha...but I think Elements is going to be included in Adobe's new monthly $$ distribution scheme..
