Hi! everyone, I am a new member who has been looking at the answers and info here for some time. I am also the new owner of a D5100. Yes the price has started to drop as inventories are being depleted in anticipation of the D5200. I have a question. When I transfer my files to a computer for processing I can open an information window that includes all the file data saved as part of the photo. One of the items listed is "exposure program: 0,1,2.....). The number changes as the program used to take the picture changes. Is there a list that compares this number to the program used on the Nikon? This info would be helpful as I learn the full use of the Nikon D5100. Thank you

An iMac. When you look at thumbnail of an image in Finder and right click on the image, a drop down screen appears. Click on "get info" in this drop down. Another screen appears that displays all the data associated with that photo including dimensions, device make and model, color space, color profile, focal length ....etc and "exposure program" I used the software that came with the camera to set up the transfer to the computer and the default transfer location in the software. No other processing software like Photoshop is involved at this point. The photo have only been transferred to a file on the computer.
Just a follow up after some testing it appears that "program number" refers to the camera mode.
Program number 0 includes al presets (auto, scenes, and effects).
Program number 1 is M mode
Program number 2 is P mode
Program number 3 is S mode
Program number 4 is A mode
If anyone has any better explanation I would appreciate it.
