New Lenses?

Hey guys,

I'm still new to digital photography & still getting the hang of using my camera in manual mode but finding it rewarding when I do get it right. I'm finding only having one lense is limiting the shots I can take so I decided to buy another two lenses, one with more zoom & a wide angle for landscapes.

I currently have AF-S DX Nikkor 18mm-105mm f/3.5-5.6g ED VR as this came in the kit with the camera.

My question is what lenses should I get?

I'm looking for cheaper lenses due to budget but prefer it to be in Nikkor lense range..

Any help would be great..

If you are into M mode and you can deal with manual focus and matrix metering I highly recommend that you look into Ai and Ais lenses as many exceptional ones are available way below the cost of more modern Nikkors.

Dandelion chips can also be added to some of these old lenses...some are more difficult than others depends on the lens in question. With the dandelion chips they basically allow your camera body to communicate with your old lenses in certain ways eg. recording EXIF data. More importantly the chips typically allow full matrix metering mode which is very good. These chips go for around 30 bucks. Couple that with a cheap old Ai or Ais lens and you can get some really good manual focus glass for little money.

The Tokina 11-16 and the Nikon 70-300 VR would be worthwhile.
If I was going to suggest one wide angle and one zoom, for a DX format body, those would be the two I would suggest as well. I think they're both beyond worthwhile and well into *outstanding* territory. Since the D7000 has an internal focus motor you can get the less expensive DX version of the Tokina (vs. the newer DXII with the focus motor in the lens itself).
