So since I dove this far into photography these last two years, my Dell Vostro 860 laptop has been struggling. I bought it to use for Microsoft Office / website work and surfing. LR4 has been taxing the processor something awful. With plans to upgrade being postponed for one reason or another, I bought the full version of LR5 to upgrade earlier this week, used the B&H coupon for $69. Went home and during the upgrade, my computer told me LR5 required Win7 or above.... I'm running Vista.... Hit Fatwallet.com yesterday, picked up a Dell Latitude E6510 refurbished laptop, 8GB RAM, 250GB Hard Drive, i5 processor & Win7 Pro for $435 w/tax & shipping to my door (Fatwallet had a 25% coupon code). Can't wait for the new arrival! This will be mine and the Vostro will continue to sit on the desk for family use. Plans are LR5 and the Google/NIK Collection as I move forward with my new found skills :) New Seagate 3TB external drive will house my LR catalogs, on site backups to a second 2TB drive and using BackBlaze for cloud backup. Seems like a pretty good plan.... Now to wait on the porch for the new toy to arrive :-)
