It's go everything an aperture needs and most of what a pro would want. Unless you are shooting pro sports or maybe concerts you really don't need the very high ISO's newer cameras can use and with the editing software that's around now noise can be hugely reduced in post anyway. I spent a large part of my pro career shooting with Canon 1DmkIIn's and III's and can say from the experience of sitting next to D300 users at football games (soccer for my colonial friends! lol) that the D300 was much better! I just picked up a pro level camera with everything I need with 17500 clicks for just £350 so before anyone goes looking at newer cameras I'd highly recommend giving the mighty D300 a good hard look
I joined up Bill :) The D300 was a turning point for Nikon along with the D3 as it over took Canon in just about every way and since it's release only small improvements have been made, namely to ISO performance. I just picked up a pro level camera with everything I need with 17500 clicks for just £350 so before anyone goes looking at newer cameras I'd highly recommend giving the mighty D300 a good hard look :)
