New D7000, D3100 sold

Hi everyone,

I just recently sold my D3100 and used the money to get a D7000. So far, I love it. I still have a D5200, and may sell that too, but like having another camera for a different lens setup when out on a walkabout. The 3100 took great photos, the 5100 takes great photos as well, but I wanted a camera that has a bit better weather resistance, as I live in the northeast and the weather changes about every hour. Tomorrow I plan on getting a Tamron 18-270 on sale for the 7000. I have quite a few lenses now as well, from the kit 18-55 up to a Sigma 18-250, and a Tamron 70-300.

Congrats on the upgrade! I did pretty much the same thing, jumping from a 3100 to a 5100 to my current 7000. I think I'm done for a little while though. :D

Congrats on the upgrade. I have a D7000 and my old D5000 is a backup camera now. Any particular reason why you're looking to get the Tamron 18-270 when you already have a Sigma 18-250? I haven't read up on the new Tamron yet.

Congrats on the D7000. I bought mine a few months ago and also kept my D3000 as a walk about camera. I love my D7000. You made a good choice.

A lot of my photos are of building's architectural detail that is some time 10 stories up, I want a little more reach. Don't get me wrong, the Sigma 18-250 is great, but being a man, I want more. LOL.

I've heard that while the Tamron is listed as 18-270 on paper, it doesn't actually have a true full 270mm range compared to 270 on a 70-300 lens. Is that a concern for you considering you already have a 70-300?

Good point, but nope, not a concern. I walk around quite a bit in an inner city so...carry my gear in a LowePro Sling Bag, no need to advertise to the street people I am carrying items of interest. The 'all-in-one' Tamron I hope will fill the bill for reaching out and touching what I want to capture in a photo.

That's a nice bag! I think I might've found a birthday gift to myself for later in the year :)

Unfortunately, the automatically highlighted link "Lowe Pro Sling Bag" is not the same sling bag I use, I actually use a Passport Sling™ Feature | LoweproI have a black one and a grayish-green one.

My new Tamron 18-270PZD arrived this past Monday, but I have only been able to get a few in the house, and backyard shots, hopefully I will get out Friday afternoon to put it through its' paces.
