Nipped out today between the rain and grabbed a few shots on the new camera,what do you think about the colour is it too strong.

I like your photo and think the color is great! What is that bird though? :eek-new:

I'd give it a 10 out of 12. I don't know if it is the lighting, but I see a slight shadow on the ground but don't see much evidence of sun on its face. :( And I'd try cropping it differently--perhaps too much space on all sides so I'd crop a little off the bottom trying to make that diagonal line start closer to the corner of the frame.

Saturation looks good to me (and pumping up the saturation, vibrance, etc. is a REAL pet peeve of mine).

I notice you're using a +1 Sharpness setting in-camera. I might suggest you try bumping that to +7 and see what you think. That was the "sweet spot" for me and made a huge difference in the image quality I got out of my 5100.

Thanks i will give it a try,must admit i was a bit scared of overdoing it in the settings.

No need to be apprehensive. Make an adjustment, take some test shots and do some comparisons. Nobody needs to see these shots and if you decide the setting is too intense go back and reduce it; but mainly, don't be afraid to experiment. You camera is a TOOL, treat it like one.
