It's a bit like pixels, more doesn't automatically mean better and with lenses focal length is only one factor. The higher end lenses are in a different league when it comes to resolving detail and image quality. That said, the 70-300 is still fantastic and probably better on a £ for £ basis.  I think you will find the new 80-400 is in a different league to you 70-300 even if you use it at 300mm.</p></blockquote><p></p>
